Irrigation Network- ASEA, ARCADIA, GR
Irrigated agriculture is of paramount importance for the development of rural economy, thus the design of a coordinated irrigation scheme was key for the local economy of Asea.
The area is traditionally rural and the primary irrigation source was riverside boreholes. This method caused problems of over- abstraction and water scarcity and provoked the need for utilizing any new water sources available in the area.
Hydrobalance’s team proposed solutions that utilized river water as irrigation source. Irrigation water was designed to be extracted by Goudanis tributary, while maintaining river flow above minimum ecological levels.
Asea’s irrigation network detailed design, included the construction one river abstraction and two new boreholes.
The design included the construction details for the pipework and all the special instrumentation necessary to secure the network against bursts.
The proposed distribution network is designed to operate safely even in the most extreme events.
