Water Trunk Main Renewal – KALLIANI, ARCADIA, GR
The frequent water supply interruption incidents have had a significant adverse effect on the development of the local community of Kalliani.
The trunk main supplying the area was constructed in 1957.
Due to extended pipe damage, main’s replacement was first priority in order to maintain normal operation for the network.
The primary design pilar was to follow the existing pipe route and avoid any significant changes on the track where possible. The existing main was crossing areas with significant mountain formations and steep inclines.
Our team took into consideration a wide range of design criteria and proposed a utilized solution that met network’s water demand.
The new trunk main was designed in parallel to the existing one. The new pipe was suspended by the deck of an existiong bridge , in order to cross over Touthoa river.
PE pipes were preferred due to their excellent physical and chemical performance, ease of construction and material flexibility and comfortable transport method. Ductile iron pipes were utilized for the sections where anchorage was necessary because of the steep ground incline
